March 30, 2008: "The White House"

Concept:
After last week’s silliness, we decided that this ad should be both historical, and, in a first for CRO, topical.

Which we accomplished in one fell swoop, referencing the context in which this coin was struck and leveraging the attention being paid to John Adams based on the current HBO mini-series of the same name.

Interestingly, the White House wasn’t called the White House at that time, it was referred to as simply the ‘Executive Mansion’, but we figured that would make for a less inspiring caption.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We knew we were going with this concept, but it was just a question of the exact words to use with “At the exact moment this coin was struck John Adams was moving into the White House.” our second choice.

This sounded cool and dramatic, but of course we can’t know precisely when this coin was minted during the year or when Adams started hauling his furniture into the house so we figured it was best not to go there.
