June 28, 2010: "This Close"

Concept:
While we are not fans of the ‘Looks Undergraded!!!!!!’ approach to coin marketing, we occasionally encounter a coin so nice for the grade that we simply have to say something. Such as in the case of this cool early date Indian Half Eagle, which, in our humble opinion, is just one mere figurative millimeter from full gem status.

The benefit of which is that it gave us an opportunity to try out this new ‘editor’s comment’ inserted caption so that our readers could physically act out the ad. Sort of.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We started out questionably using the incuse design of this type as our ad focus, first with the possibly offensive "Chief of the Incuse." (which I think is a play on ‘Chief of the Incas’, which I’m not sure is a real thing anyway).

Understandably we dropped that idea almost immediately, instead refocusing on the incredible quality of this coin with "Just inches from full gem status."

But based on our research, a millimeter is much, much smaller than an inch, so we decided to go with that.
