April 8, 2013: "Truly Original"

Concept:
Sure, we’ve handled original coins before. Totally original coins. Of all kinds. But of all of them, this one 1880 Liberty Head Twenty Dollar gold piece struck us as perhaps the most original of all.

Sufficiently so that it required, no, demanded that we construct a Truly Original ad to highlight it.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
I really wanted to go with something totally straightforward like "This is what an old gold coin looks like if it has never been cleaned.", but I was advised that that sounded sort of preachy. And no wants that.

So we moved on to "Ever seen a totally original old gold coin? Now you have.", before concluding that it was both awkward and cumbersome, hardly an ideal combination for a CRO ad.

So we went with the distinctly non-preachy, less complicated version in our final ad.
