September 13, 2010: "Un-Fargo-table!"

Concept:
We were looking for an unforgettable caption to highlight this gemmy Wells Fargo $20 when our guest author found one, ironically, right smack dab in the middle of the word ‘unforgettable’.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Our initial ideas were very straightforward, including “Among the best of the Wells Fargo hoard put away in 1917.” But at our weekly staff meeting with the Creative Department (during which little chocolate doughnuts are served) it was determined that that was simply ‘too literal’ (if I recall correctly, the words ‘pedestrian’ and ‘comatose’ were used as well).

So then we tried some creative plays on the name Wells Fargo, first with “Well how far would you go to get a Wells Fargo $20?” and then “All’s well that ends with a Wells Fargo $20.” . But while both of those displayed an impressive amount of alliteration, the sentiment they expressed didn’t sound quite right to us.

So we went with the unforgettable "Un-Fargo-table!" version in our final ad.
