May 19, 2014: "Unblinking Quality"

Concept:
When advertising a fantastic Nova Constellatio copper like this week’s featured coin, you’re pretty much limited to captions about rays (either Blunt, or in this case Pointed), the US (block letters or in this case fanciful script), Latin legends (e.g. Nova Constelatio or in this case Constellatio), or that creepy unblinking Eye of Providence which is on the obverse of every one of these.

So of course we opted for that last one.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
There were some pretty good alternatives this week which I wish I could take credit for, but they were all submitted by a guest author, including another eye and eye appeal-related "Stop and Stare."

And while we liked that and intend to use it in some future ad, it was actually the inspiration for the one we ultimately chose this week.
