September 10, 2012: "Victoria’s Secret"

Concept:
The über-gem Bronzed Proof English Penny in this week’s ad depicts a pert 20 year-old Queen Victoria highlighted by some of the most spectacular-iffic toning your author has ever encountered (and ever is a loooong time).

A two-for-one story we thought could be highlighted in one fell swoop with this mainstream, shopping mail-inspired Victoria’s Secret gag.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
The first alternative this week was written by my wife, and since she watches Masterpiece Theatre, it was of course the serious "Behold the Dawn of the Victorian Era."

I wanted to go a little lighter though, and felt that this was the one and only opportunity to use the Victoria’s Secret line seen in the finished ad.

In retrospect, I wish we had shortened it to "Victoria’s secret? Spectacular toning.", but it is too late for that now.
