February 3, 2014: "Whole Lotta Love"

Concept:
Zeppelin has always held a special place in your author’s heart, probably because this symbol was painted on his college dorm room wall by a previous resident (so expertly that the school refused to paint over it even after that guy moved out):

So when confronted with this superb 1930-F Germany ‘Zeppelin’ 5Mk, it seemed obvious that we needed to use a Led Zeppelin-inspired caption.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
Certainly the most iconic and recognizable Led Zeppelin lyrics are ‘Stairway to Heaven’, but try as we might, we couldn’t find a way to shoehorn that into a coin ad in a way that made any sense at all.

So we opted for the significantly-easier-to-work-with ‘Whole Lotta Love’, starting with “We’ve got a Whole Lotta Love for this Zeppelin.” But that didn’t sit quite right, so we changed to the version in our final ad (though that might have been a mistake).
