May 9, 2011: "You Can See it from Here"

Concept:
While Dave and I don’t always agree about everything, there is one thing about which we definitely see eye to eye: The original, classic overdates (like this pleasing 1918/7-D Buffalo, for example) are entirely more satisfying than some of the newly discovered ones that require an electron microscope to see.

Because this one (like a few of the other errors from this era) is plain as day, and clearly visible even in our not-that-enormous 1/4 page CoinWorld ad.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
We started with an ‘Over Hill, Over Dale, Over Date‘ concept (since the original song dates from 1917 and thus seemed timely), but we never could sufficiently link it to the coin to make it work.

We then migrated to "Is this numismatics boldest overdate?", before settling on the interactive version in our final ad.
