April 16, 2007: "You Definitely Shouldn’t"

Concept:
This was really an amazing coin, particularly in the context of most of the Charlotte gold we see which are mostly stripped and dipped, often hideous, etc. This one was 1,000% original and simply superb.

So the obvious angle seemed to be to contrast it with the typical coin of this type. But we didn’t want to be too literal or straightforward about it and ultimately settled on this ‘anti-ad’ concept.

Captions that didn’t make the cut:
I really wanted to use "The secret lies with Charlotte" (a reference to the movie National Treasure) which I thought was a very catchy idea emphasizing the Charlotte mint.

Of course if you haven’t seen the movie then the caption makes no sense at all – not to mention that it doesn’t say anything about the quality or originality of the coin itself

Still, I thought it would get noticed, and I still regret not using it.
