Noe-1, Salmon 1-A, W-430 variety, IN at Left Redbook type.  Considered to be Rarity-3.

First of a couple of Noe-1 Oak Tree Shillings on our list, the issue considered by many (your author included) to be the definitive Oak variety and the one most desirable for type.

Which explains why we try to buy every nice example we see in any grade.  These are not that easy to find though, and at most we’ve had 1 or 2 a year for the last decade.  Until today.

And while this one is typically struck (i.e. with weakness at the base of the tree and legend), it is nicely toned in rich shades of sea blue, emerald green and golden orange and quite pleasing overall.

$8,250
