Martin 6.1-I.1, W-1362 variety, considered to be High Rarity-7.

One of just a couple of 1724 Rosa 2p die marriages, and this is the rarer of the two. It is also a famous example, serving as the plate coin in the Martin reference on this series, and also in the Breen Encyclopedia.

With lovely golden brown color, nice surfaces and excellent eye appeal.

Ex Stack’s-Bowers October 2022 sale of the Martin Collection, Part II, lot #1281; earlier Stack’s May 2005 sale of the Ford Collection, Part IX, lot #189.
