An exceptional example of an issue we’ve been trying to find for years.

This is a silver dollar-sized coin of the same type as was recovered from the wreck of the Le Chameau (a French supply ship destined for North America which sank off the coast of Nova Scotia in 1725, taking with it a veritable time capsule of French gold and silver coins to be used in the American colonies).

And while the silver pieces salvaged from the wreck were in decrepit condition (and that’s being kind), this one is a fantastic, lustrous example with a rightful place in a high-end collection of early American coins.
