First of three high end examples of this interesting series on our list celebrating the 18th century exploits of Admiral Edward Vernon.

With this piece commemorating his victory over the heavily fortified Spanish defenses at Portobello (in what is now Panama) which Vernon had famously stated that he could take with “6 ships only“.  And by golly he did.

This is the first Small Sized piece we have ever owned in this series, and it is a lovely golden brass Choice Unc. featuring a googly-eyed, baton wielding, finger pointing Vernon on the obverse, with six ships in Porto Bello Harbor on the reverse.
