Struck in Silver, 40 mm in diameter.
A large and impressive piece, and a neat tribute to William Pitt, a popular figure in the American colonies based on his opposition to the stamp act.
The obverse portrait of Pitt is surrounded by the Latinate form of his name, with some pronounced and quite dramatic die cracks at the left rim.
The reverse bears the popular quote THE MAN WHO HAVING SAVED THE PARENT (England) PLEADED WITH SUCCESS FOR HER CHILDREN (the colonies).
And this is a stunning example of this interesting historical piece, with fresh silver color and some vibrant blue, sea green, russet and golden orange toning on both the obverse and reverse.
Note that this coin was imaged before it was encapsulated in a new NGC pronged holder.
