V.6-76A variety, considered to be Rarity-4.

A favorite issue of ours as one of just 3 coins in the entire American series which bear the historic 1776 date, and the only one that is affordable to most collectors:

  1. 1776 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny V.6-76A. (this type)

  2. 1776 Machin’s Mills Halfpenny V.9-76B. The so-called ‘Small Date’ type, of which less than 10 are known and none have traded in the last several years.

  3. 1776 Continental Dollar. Even low grade specimens are selling for 5 figure prices.

The coin itself is medium chocolate brown with lighter highlights, smooth, even wear and no significant impairments.

Importantly, the date is bold and clear, which is not always the case on this issue.
