An interesting Dutch trade issue that definitively saw circulation in colonial America.
The obverse bears a Knight surrounded by the abbreviated legend CONCORDIA RES PARvae CREScunt, loosely translated as the Franklinesque message ‘Union is Strength’.
The reverse legend is an abbreviation for MOneta ORDinum PROVINciarum FOEDERatorum BELGicarum AD LEGem IMPerii, meaning ‘A coin of the government of the provincial federation of Belgium in accordance with imperial law’.
The piece itself is very pleasing, with delicate golden color and a fresh look.
