Betts-610 variety, struck in White Metal with a copper plug.  Dies by Johann Matthias Reich (father of John Reich).  42.7mm.

An extremely cool and very ambitious piece, with a Liberty Cap-holding personification of America on the obverse greeting Mrs. Europe, surrounded by the arms of Germany, France, England, and Spain with the battles at Port Mahon and Gibraltar in the background and the Eye of Providence watching it all, and Peace and Plenty standing over the warrior Mars beneath "Etat Pax" (state of peace) on the reverse.  Phew.  I’m exhausted.

The piece itself is fresh and lustrous with just the few minor marks typically seen on this type.

Ex Stack’s May 2006 sale of the John Ford Collection, Part 14, lot #278.
