Musante GW-90, Baker-57, Julian CM-6 variety, struck in Silver. 40mm. Considered to be Rarity-7 with 11 examples definitively known of which just 8 are in private hands.

One of the most desirable and sought after issues in the Washington series, but one missing from all but the finest numismatic cabinets.

With the Samson portrait of Washington on the obverse surrounded by the distinctive legend WASHINGTON C.C.A.U.S. (Commander in Chief of the Army of the United States), and an Eagle clutching lightning bolts above America on the reverse.

The piece itself is an old toned, razor sharp specimen striking which looks better than 62 to this author, and is about as nice as these ever come.

Ex Stack’s October 2004 of the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection, Part V, lot #192; earlier Wayte Raymond.
