Miller 3-D.1, W-2510 variety, the so-called Scholar’s Head type. Considered to be Rarity-5.

One of the most popular and charming Connecticut varieties (and one of your author’s favorites), but one that is quite tough to find attractive and unflawed.

So we are pleased to offer this wholesome example with nice medium brown color and choice surfaces for the grade.

With an interesting pedigree including two giants in this speciality, as this coin was once owned by long time friend of the firm and Connecticut aficionado Robert Martin who acquired it privately from Eric Newman.  How cool is that? Very.

Ex Stack’s November 2019 sale of the Robert Martin collection, lot #5087; earlier acquired from Eric P. Newman on March 5, 1994.
