Bake-17, Breen-1223 variety.

A very wholesome, attractive example of this often ugly issue.

Lovely, rich chestnut brown color, nice surfaces and just a few small darker areas and some crust in the devices connoting total originality.

This type is notoriously struck on narrow planchets, too small to contain the intended design. But this one is nicely centered, with, importantly, a full date (as seen on the minority of surviving specimens) and nearly complete legends.

Ex-ANA Midwinter Auction, March 1990, lot #2506.
