Sheldon-9 die variety, considered to be Rarity-2.
A very attractive light golden brown example that has not been dipped, cleaned or enhanced by anyone, ever. How can we be so sure? Because there is some ancient crust lingering in the devices that would easily yield to a camel’s hair brush with some Care on it, or a gentle prodding with a rose thorn. Making this one of the crustiest early coppers we can recall seeing.
Nicely struck, too, but with a few old dings and nicks present on both the obverse and reverse which are either charming or distracting depending on your perspective.
Housed in ancient PCGS Green Label slab (which is actually yellow).
