Sheldon-135, considered high Rarity-3.

This coin was undoubtedly part of the Nichols find of large cents, which was a hoard of mint state 1796 and 1797 cents that came to light in the 1860’s.

And this is a choice example which is fresh to the market, having resided in an incredible early US type set for the past decade or so.

Sharply struck, with pleasing medium brown color, proof-like fields and a slightly cameo appearance.

The reverse also exhibits the low area above the N in ONE, as noted on several condition census examples of this variety in the Breen-Borchardt book on early large cents.
