Breen 6453, B-5D variety. Considered to be Rarity-3.

This coin is as fresh and original as the day it left the Philadelphia mint 199 years ago.

Beautiful, lustrous and housed in the same PCGS holder as it was when sold as part of the esteemed Harry Bass collection in 1999.

A few light lines and surface marks may have accounted for the grade assigned by PCGS back then, but this coin is simply beautiful and far exceeds many we have seen in higher holders over the last several years.

This coin embodies exactly the type that we ourselves would wish to collect, and are delighted to offer, as it combines exceptional eye-appeal, originality, technical merit, rarity and unbeatable provenance.

We have also attached here a photo of Mr. Bass wearing his distinctive multi-tiered magnifying lenses. How cool is that?

Ex-Bowers and Merena’s October, 1999 sale of the Harry W. Bass Jr. collection, Part II, lot #786 where it realized $13,800; Quality Sales Corporation’s auction of the John A. Beck Collection, Part 1, January, 1975, lot #370.
