Mickley ‘Restrike’, listed on page 94 of the 2014 Redbook where it is ambitiously priced at $22,000 in XF40.  Considered to be Rarity-7.

And now for something completely different, this is an ‘unofficial restrike’ produced outside the mint by (or possibly for) Joseph Mickley from an old and rusted 1811 C-2 obverse die, and an 1802 C-2 reverse.  With perhaps a dozen or so struck before the dies were eventually sold back to the U.S. Mint (at which time the party was over).

And this is a lovely piece, about as made, with evident die rust, nice golden brown color and old faded red in the devices.

In all, an interesting, very cool and extremely rare issue not likely to come again anytime soon.
