Editor’s note: At the time this coin was graded, PCGS did not distinguish between the Upright 55 variety and the Slant 55, and all RD 1855 Large Cents received the coin #1909. Subsequently, the two varieties were given separate PCGS coin #s and 1909 became the designation for the RD Upright 55. The current number for the RD Slant 55 is now 1912.
