KM-21a with HOND variety, struck at the Tegucigalpa mint.
The same familiar design as the preceding, but this piece was struck after the dissolution of the Central American Republic as a provisional coinage by Honduran authorities as stated in the obverse legend MONEDA PROVISIONAL DEL ESTADO DE HONDURAS. With no capacity to produce proper silver coinage at that time, this 8R type was struck in a debased copper-lead alloy.
And this is the first of this neat issue we’ve ever offered, mostly because every one we’ve seen before this was downright awful, dark, extremely worn, unevenly struck, out of round, cracked, damaged or some unholy combination of the above.
But this is a downright pleasing, original, well made, evenly struck, golden brown Choice VF which is the finest certified of the type at PCGS.
