With a very high relief portrait of Rittenhouse on the obverse, and HE / BELONGED / TO THE / WHOLE HUMAN /RACE / BORN 1732. / DIED 1796. / MEDAL SERIES OF THE / U.S. MINT / J. POLLOCK 1871 DIRECTOR.

And this is a neat old toned example of an issue which might not come to market again anytime soon.
