Here’s the deal:  We see highly graded, wildly toned commemoratives at every show and auction, though many (most?) of them look downright funky to us, with crazy unnatural color that we never saw when we looked at commems in the 1970’s.

We never buy those. 

We do, on the other hand, buy coins like this –  also über-graded, but stone cold original, with lovely old toning in cool shades of aubergine, silvery green and old gold.
