As has been noted here in the past on this site, this is an extreeeeemely nostalgic issue for your author, since I first owned a Jefferson Nickel struck on a 1¢ planchet waaaaay back in 1969.

Though this one is waaaaay better than my old coin and is in fact the highest graded example we’ve had of any date, with über-gem surfaces and intense red color.
