Breen-74, W-1010, Large Bust variety.

The second rarest denomination (after the Denarium) in a series in which all of the coins are at least scarce.

And this is a wonderful original example of an issue which is often found holed, or damaged, or otherwise significantly impaired.  Indeed, many of the pieces sold in recent years have had fairly obvious damage, repairs, plugs or the like (including several in graded holders that were shunned by the specialist buyers, including us, and realized seemingly bargain prices).

But this one is a wholesome, problem-free piece with lovely silvery blue color, some delicate golden toning and exceptional surfaces for the issue.  Just some smooth even wear to account for the grade, though given the typically blunt strikes on these, one could make an argument that this piece is VF20 or so for the issue (as evidenced by the sharpness seen in the legends at the lower obverse and upper reverse).

Whatever grade is assigned, this is a very pleasing example which would be difficult and expensive to improve upon.
