Betts-515 variety, struck in Silver. 40.4mm.
A large and impressive medal, and a neat tribute to William Pitt, a popular figure in the American colonies based on his opposition to the stamp act.
The extremely high relief obverse portrait of Pitt is surrounded by the Latinate form of his name, while the reverse bears the popular quote THE MAN WHO HAVING SAVED THE PARENT (i.e. England) PLEADED WITH SUCCESS FOR HER CHILDREN (i.e. the colonies).
And this example is really spectacular, all original, with beautiful reflective fields, razor sharp detail, pretty toning on the obverse and reverse and a look that utterly defies the 63 grade.
