This coin (and the two that follow) are interesting “restrikes” made in small quantity by Robert Bashlow in the ’60s.

These are collectible today as affordable stand-ins for the extremely rare and terribly expensive original pioneer gold coinage of J.J. Conway.  

And this is a pleasing example, with satiny golden color and just a few flecks keeping it from full gem status.
