Variant of Musante GW-92, Baker-58A, Julian CM-5, Betts-617, struck in Gilt Bronze and apparently unique as such.
An historic issue struck to honor the contributions of George Washington and Benjamin Franklin in the military and diplomatic battle for American independence, with a double portrait on the obverse, and one of the great designs in early American numismatics on the reverse with an Eagle clutching lightning bolts above America.
And while this is a rare type, the present example is a previously unseen Gilt Bronze variant. It is also a lovely piece, with fresh golden color, choice surfaces, a sharp strike and excellent eye appeal.
Making this is an extremely desirable piece, and a fleeting opportunity for the specialist.
