Sheldon-57 variety, the Head of 1794 type as so indicated on the PCGS label. Considered to be Rarity-1.

In his 1869 book on the varieties of 1794 Large Cents, Edward Maris called this the “Pyramidal Head”, a feature described by Al Boka in his more recent work as “A straight sweep down the hair to left suggests an outline of a pyramid.” Mr. Boka further observed on S-57 that “On some, two depressions develop, nose and lips to rim.”, features which are present on this specimen.

This piece also has nearly ideal chocolate brown color and the problem-free surfaces one would hope to find on any early copper.

Note that this coin has been verified by CAC.
