A lovely and quite choice example traced to Stack’s December 1984 sale of the Floyd T. Starr Collection, lot #1853, where it was colorfully described as follows:
"Beautiful purple and light green olive steel . . . sharply impressed on excellent surfaces . . . Extremely rare in top level condition."
To which we can only add that this is about the most strikingly toned Large Cent we’ve offered in recent memory.
