One of our favorite issues, but a type that is often seen lackluster, dipped out or dull.

Many of this issue were distributed in little wooden boxes which were extremely charming, but hardly ideal for long term coin storage.  Over time, many of these coins toned a sickly green color, which invited dipping, leading to the unhappy results described above.

But this coin is an eye-appealing exception, with frosty cartwheel luster and a crescent of rim toning on both the obverse and reverse.
