Vlack 4-E, W-11540 variety, with Small Letters on the Obverse and Reverse.
Speaking of interesting pedigrees, this was our favorite one in the Newman Collection (possibly our favorite one of all time), since this piece was acquired by Mr. Newman from your author and thus bears the august CRO provenance.
But it has a long and illustrious provenance before that too, earlier residing in the William C. Boyd Collection as described here.
The piece itself is a lovely, bold, golden brown and ranks highly among all of the St. Pats Halfpennies we’ve ever handled. As an aside, it is also another coin on this list priced at less than our max bid at the Newman sale.
Note that this coin has been verified by CAC.
Ex Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society; earlier Coin Rarities Online; earlier Baldwin’s September 2005 sale of the William C. Boyd Collection, lot #1223 as noted.
