Breen-218, G81-2/2a, W-11500 variety with Martlet Alone Beneath the King (Editor’s Note: In heraldry, a Martlet is a representation of a bird without feet, used as a crest or bearing to indicate a fourth son, though frankly it looks like a regular old duck to this author).

And this is a lovely, smooth, golden brown piece which would be considered quite choice for any St. Patrick Farthing, let along this scarce variety.

Ex Stack’s-Bowers November 2012 sale of the Ted L. Craige Collection, lot #6189 where it realized $4,025.

Note that this coin has been verified by CAC.
